Sample Problems

Introduction

Sample or test problems are available on the download page. The download file consists of the folder Testing with subfolders Animation, Examples, MOB RMFC, OMAEbarge, and Scripting. These videos work through the sample problems.

Note: The first video link is to a video hosted on YouTube. The "Alternate" link is to the same video on a Chinese hosting site.

Examples

These sample problems demonstrate the application of HYDRAN-XR to obtain the wave-induced motion for a rigid body. The problems involve a single rigid body, two rigid bodies, and three rigid bodies. In all cases the body is a simple box with a coarse mesh to speed calculation. The bodies are not connected so the multi-body problems demonstrate  structure-fluid-structure interaction. Solutions using no symmetry, single symmetry, and double symmetry are demonstrated. Recommended for all users.

MOB RMFC

Video demonstrates the rigid module, flexible connector (RMFC) model of a mobile offshore base (MOB). Each rigid module is a semisubmersible platform. The MOB consists of 5 modules oriented serially. The modules are connected at the deck level only to reduce connection forces. Different options for modeling the connectors are discussed.

OMAEbarge

This is a detailed hydroelastic problem that is discussed in a series of videos. The videos are discussed and presented at the bottom of the web page Lectures on Hydroelasticity, which is also accessible from the Videos navigation bar.

Scripting

Video shows how the scripting capability of HYDRAN-XR can be used to generate the hydrodynamic panel mesh of a circular cylinder, with or without a top and/or bottom.

Animation

There is no video discussing the files in this folder. However, there are ample comments in the files to explain what is being done. There is also a video on animation at the bottom of the web page Lectures on Hydroelasticity, which is also accessible from the Videos navigation bar.
